Tournament host Virginia Episcopal School won the 14th Holiday Classic on Saturday, topping Holy Cross 51-39 in the championship. The Gaels used a mix of defensive looks, including a box-in-one and a triangle-and-two, to hold VES standout Darrio Scott to eight points, though he still pulled down 24 rebounds in the win.

Jon Woodard scored 16 points for VES, hitting three of his four 3-pointers during a second-quarter surge that turned a narrow lead into a 31-19 advantage. Timmy Tillman added 14 for the Bishops (4-0), who played without injured starters Antti Khander and Matt Klein. Holy Cross fell to 2-3 despite a game-high 23 points from Ika Nijaradze, who scored 12 of those in the fourth quarter alone.

In the tournament's other game, Lynchburg Christian Academy defeated Timberlake Christian School by 10 points in the consolation game.
