Fears leads TCS

Timberlake Christian School returns its top scorers from last season as coach Allan Edgar eyes at least a .500 season.

Bennie Fears, who averaged 21 points per game last year for the 6-13 team, heads the list of returnees. Other top players returning include Jim Dinwiddie, who averaged 13 points a game, and Gary Thomas, who had an 8-point average.

In addition to averaging in double figures, Dinwiddie averaged five assists and four steals per game last year.

Edgar lost leading rebounder Richard Carter to graduation, but 6-foot Tim Justice will take over at center. Justice saw considerable action last season as did Chris Whitely, who also is expected to start in the team's opener against Augusta Military Academy Nov. 30.

TCS will have a stronger bench this season, thanks to sophomores Mike Pulliam, Philip Lachniet, Cecil Floyd and Brad Yates.
