Last year Timberlake Christian Schools left it to Jim Dinwiddie or Bennie Fears. If they couldn't do it, it didn't get done.

Both graduated last spring, and this year coach Allan Edgar is counting on team play to keep the Tornadoes competitive.

“It will have to be a team effort,” said Edgar. “They proved they could do it in soccer, and I am really looking forward to this season.”

Edgar returns Tim Justice, a starter last season, Fred Sutherland, who was sixth man on last year's team, and reserves Chris Whitely and Brad Yates.

How well the team does will depend on newcomers. Edgar is high on Bryan Standford, a sophomore who led the JV in scoring last season, and Barry Whorley and Tommy Parker.

Whorley, at 6-2, gives the team height it lacked last year, while Parker is 6-1, but, according to Edgar, plays much taller.
