Timberlake loses at buzzer
FARMVILLE — The play didn't go as planned but Prince Edward came away with a 61-59 basketball victory over Timberlake just the same.
With the score tied at 59 with 14 seconds left, Timberlake worked the ball into Doug Allen. Allen, who scored 32 points in defeat, was called for traveling with six seconds left and Prince Edward took over after a timeout.
A pass by Brandon Bradshaw of Prince Edward was headed out of bounds when Todd Estes flipped it over his left shoulder back inbounds to Jeff Irving. With three defenders draped over him, Irving hit an 8-foot jumper as time expired.
Marty Chandler scored 10 points for Timberlake and Jeff Henshaw had 21 for Prince Edward, whose 19-5 mark is a school record.
