Holy Cross blasts Timberlake
Holy Cross swingman Abe Hughes proved Tuesday he's no one-hit wonder.
Two days after Hughes tallied 32 points in a Gaels win, he burned Timberlake Christian for 26 points as Holy Cross rolled to an 80-56 Virginia Independent Conference victory.
Hughes, who also grabbed seven rebounds, was joined in double figures by teammates Bart Wheeler (18 points), Joe Miano (17) and Sherman Hughes (15).
The 6-7 Wheeler tallied a double-double with his game-high 12 rebounds.
The victory moved the Gaels to 13-7 overall and kept them unbeaten at 7-0 in the VIC. Steve Glass led Timberlake (4-10) with 16 points. Barrett Hepler tossed in 12 points for the Tornadoes.
