LCA and Timberlake reach tourney finals

TCS routed Holy Cross in the nightcap, 72-36, at the Private Schools Holiday Classic at Holy Cross Friday, advancing to face Lynchburg Christian in tonight's 8 o'clock final. LCA reached the final by beating Virginia Episcopal School, 70-66, in the first-round opener.

Despite the easy win over Holy Cross, TCS coach Rodney Kane was concerned about injury problems with his club. Greg Pulliam, the Tornadoes' leading scorer, went down with a foot injury with 5:47 left in the third period and Jeff Bryant, a top reserve, twisted an ankle with 33 seconds left in the game.

"Greg just got the okay to play from the doctor today (Friday) after he had suspected he had a stress fracture in his foot," Kane said. "When he went down after hitting that layup, he was complaining about the same area on the top of his foot."
