VES, Timberlake reach finals

Timberlake knocked down eight three-pointers in the first half alone en route to a 61-50 win over LCA in the tournament's opening round. The Tornadoes, who improved to 4-0, jumped out to a 21-10 first-quarter lead behind Jason Spear and Paul Fitzgerald, who combined to hit 8 of their first 10 field goal attempts. Spear scored 12 of his game-high 17 points in the opening quarter, while Fitzgerald had 9 of his own 17 in that stretch. Fitzgerald finished with four three-pointers, and Spear and Wyatt Craig (14 points) each hit three of their own, with Clint Dodson adding one more for 11 team three-pointers on the night.

Timberlake led by as many as 19 points, 33-14, with 2:35 left in the half, and turned the ball over only three times in the opening two quarters to LCA's 11. LCA refused to fold, scoring on its first eight possessions of the second half to cut the lead to 46-37 with 2:29 left in the third quarter, but the Tornadoes pulled away from there to advance to the championship game.
